SRINAGAR: APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has assailed Jammu & Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah and described him “shameless and morally dead”.
He said the state’s rulers were “acting as stooges of Delhi to implement the agenda of suppression and brutalization of Kashmiris through military might to crush their aspirations” in a statement after he was prevented from addressing a presser.
Police did not allow journalists to enter the Mirwaiz’s house, where he had called the presser over the killing of five youth in CRPF firing since Saturday.
He later addressed journalists outside his house and described the present situation in Kashmir as “extremely worrisome”.
“The universally accepted basic right — the right to life — is being totally violated and is under great threat in Kashmir. In fact it has ceased to exist for the rulers.”
He said black laws like AFSPA provided a license to the forces to kill and the immunity from prosecution has emboldened them to create havoc.
The Mirwaiz urged people to hoist black flags and tie black arm bands on Friday to protest recent killings and other atrocities.
