KARACHI: The on-going tussle over dues between Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) and KESC took an ugly turn on Tuesday when the former locked the doors of KESC’s offices located at Civic Centre, Karachi.
According to reports, the move by KMC left stranded about 600 KESC’s employees who were unable to reach their office. Work at KESC’s call centre was also affected due to which consumers faced lot of difficulties.
KMC has also reportedly canceled the allotment of land leased out to KESC in Baldia.
The KMC’s move came after KESC suspended power supply of various KMC installations over non-payment of dues of around Rs 170 million.
The standoff between the two important institutions surprised the concerned citizens who wondered as to why the KMC and KESC were unable to settle their matters on table instead of taking extreme action to the discomfort of the people.
