HYDERABAD: A total of eleven people lost their lives as a result of Dengue fever in different parts of Karachi from January 1, 2013 till date while 1079 remained in the grip of virus.
The focal person Sindh on Dengue Dr. Hussain Umrani talking to this scribe on Tuesday informed that Karachi is the most affected city with Dengue virus, where from January 2013 till date, eleven virus affected patients lost their lives while 1023 remained under treatment.
Giving break up of other districts of the province, Dr. Hussain Umrani informed that no death has so far been reported from any district of Sindh except Karachi, however, 53 patients have been brought to Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad where special Dengue Treatment Ward has been set up by the hospital management.
He further informed that two patients of Dengue affected each were reported from Thatta, Sanghar and Dadu districts and one each in Shikarpur, Kashmore and Qamber districts.
The provincial health department is making all out efforts to control Dengue Virus and in this direction, a number of measures have been adopted including fumigation in almost all districts of the province, he said and advised people to also adopt precautionary measures in order to prevent the virus from spreading.
