IG KPK signals launching of targeted operation in terror-hit Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Durrani has signaled the commencement of targeted operation soon in Peshawar.

Nasir Durrani stated that the KPK government has given final approval for tightening of security measure while in first level public places present in the provincial capital city would be opened after completing thorough check via sniffer dogs and various teams of Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).

It should be mentioned that the city became victim of dead attacks during last week as two high intensity explosions were occurred including All Saints Church and Qissa Khwani market which claimed more than 128 lives.

Speaking to the media, the IG said that the explosives used in bomb explosion at Qissa Khawani market was made locally. He added that terrorists changed their attacking strategies as earlier they were targeting the security forces but now targeting public spots.

The IG said that the formation of new strategy against terrorism has been ordered by the KPK government and the provincial authorities decided to eliminate the issues with public cooperation.

The decision for targeted operation was taken on Sunday in a high level meeting headed by Chief Secretary KPK Arbab Muhammad Shehzad.

The meetings also approved formation of special task force comprising of security forces and intelligence agencies’ officials.
