ISLAMABAD: The government has convened an All Parties Conference today (Monday) in Islamabad to devise a comprehensive strategy for overcoming terrorism.
All major political parties have accepted the invitation to participate in the conference which will begin at about 11am.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will chair the meeting. Director General ISI will brief the meeting on security situation.
The session will be held in-camera as media persons are not allowed in the conference.
The Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani will also apprise the political leadership of overall security situation in the country. After that, political leaders will express their views on the issue.
Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan said the government is making efforts to bring peace to the country and the political leadership is fully cooperating with it as they were cooperated on Karachi law and order issue.
He expressed the hope that a consensus resolution will be adopted at the end of the conference which will give a roadmap to the Government as to how it should move forward to overcome terrorism and establish peace in the country.
Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan announced Sunday that he would present in APC four key points for eliminating terrorism.
Imran Khan said the terrorism has affected Khyber Paktunkhwa more than any other place so he would present four key points before other parties in the APC for elimination of this menace.
