Hot, dry weather expected in quake-affected areas: Met Office

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday forecast hot and dry weather for the quake-affected areas of Balochistan during the next three days.

The maximum temperatures in the quake-affected areas would be Awaran (38-40 C), Gwadar (36-38 C) and Panjgur (38-40 C) during the next few days.

Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country with chances of rain-thundershower at isolated places of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

According to the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly trough was prevailing over northeastern parts of the country and likely to move northeastward during next the 24 hours.

Weak seasonal low was lying over north-Balochistan and adjoining areas. Another Low pressure areas lies over south Rajasthan and adjoining area. A low pressure area was also lying over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas.

Rain and thundershower is likely in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Mirpurkhas divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 24 hours.

The maximum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours were Islamabad 31 C, Lahore 34 C, Peshawar 34 C, Karachi 36 C, Quetta 33 C, Skardu 26 C, Murree 22 C, Muzzafarabad 35 C, Gilgit 31 C, Faisalabad 36 C, Multan 37 C and Hyderabad 38 C.
