ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan chaired a high-level meeting of officials of Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control and Heads of its Attached Departments to discuss the latest security situation of the country.
In the meeting the Federal Minister instructed to include Air-wing in the Rapid Response Force, upgrade their capacity for night flying and to place it under NACTA operations. He also ordered to revamp the National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC) and its operations.
The Minister directed DG FIA to revamp the immigration process in order to facilitate the public. The complaint and comments counters be established at all major airports of the country ,where announcements be made after every 15 minutes in order to address the problems and to record the complaints of the passengers, the Minister added.
To facilitate the general public while keeping strict security measures intact the Minister instructed the IG Islamabad and Traffic Police to systematically minimize the time duration of the traffic routes set in place for the on-ground movements of the VVIPs. He noted that a scientific and professional input should be given into the setting up of these routes so that the traffic does not have to stop for more than five to ten minutes.
He ensured that the facilitation of the public is a high priority for the government and directed the officials to ensure that the citizens do not have to suffer any hindrance due to the mismanagement of the authorities.
The IG Islamabad Police briefed the Minister about the assignment of security personnel at the mosques, imam bargahs and other places of worship.
In the meeting Chairman NADRA ensured that the project to automate the entry/exit points of Islamabad was already underway. He stated that e-tags would be provided to the vehicle owners of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to facilitate the easy movement of the citizens to and from the city. The e-tags shall be provided after thorough scrutiny. This automated system will help to record and verify the credentials and registration of the vehicles and the passengers using a biometric system.
The Federal Minister stressed that unnecessary barricades need to be removed and the process needs to be streamlined at with the e-toll system at Rawat and Golra toll plazas, beside other vantage points.
The Minister for Interior also directed IGP, FIA, NCMC and NACTA to rise to the occasion and keep delivering progress in terms of strict deadlines in view. NNI
