Govt to privatize 35 states institutions during next three years: Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: Federal minister for finance, Senator Ishaq Dar has said that government has prepared a plan to privatize the state-owned institutions running in loss.

In an interview with foreign magazine here on Friday, Senator Ishaq Dar said that during next three years 35 government institutions which were going in loss and serving as burden on national exchequer would be privatized.

He said that some institutions were annually costing five billion dollars to the country’s economy.

The finance minister stated that said institutions were not only hurting the economy but also affecting the performance of others and they needed restructuring to stabilize them.

Dar said that mending the destroyed economy, improvement in power sector and rooting out the terrorism was the top priorities of the federal government.

He said that bailout loan of three billion dollars would be returned to International Monetary Fund (IMF) during the ongoing year.

The finance minister said that five lac more people would be brought into tax net during five years.
