Gilani urges JUI-S chief to help recover Ali


Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday visited district Nowshera and met with chief of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) Maulana Samiul Haq, urging him to play role for recovery of his son Ali Haider Gilani.

Talking to the reporters Yousuf Raza Gilani said he didn’t boycott the last general elections because of the kidnapping of his son as it was a personal matter. He informed that he discussed the same with JUI-S chief Samiul Haq during the meeting and urged him to play role in the recovery of his son from captivity of Taliban.

When asked about the government move to negotiate with Taliban, the former premier emphasized the political solution is the best way for all outstanding issues instead of using force. “We will extend every possible support to incumbent PML-N government for the establishment of sustainable and durable peace in the country, he vowed.

Though, he said All Parties’ Conferences were organised in the past, but every time they concluded without giving any solid mechanism and plan to wipe out terrorism and extremism. While commenting on prevailing situation in port city of Karachi, Gilani stressed the need for sorting out political solution instead of using force and resorting to military operation in Karachi,

Maulana Samiul Haq while speaking on the occasion said the recovery of former prime minister’s son Ali Haider Gilani isn’t a difficult task, but certain demands and obstacles causing delay in getting him free from the captivity of Taliban.

Regarding the proposed All Parties’ conference on the national security issues and terrorism, Samiul Haq said if all the stakeholders develop consensus on war against terror, and implemented the decision of APC then there will be no room for US to mount pressure on the Pakistani authorities.

It was pertinent to mention here that Ali Haider Gilani was picked up by unidentified armed men on May 02, 2013, during election campaign from Multan, a southern district of Punjab. Later on Abu Yazeed, a spokesman for the militant group calling itself Al-Mansooreen Brigade claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of Ali Haider Gilani. The spokesman made this call from an Afghan phone number and informed Gilani family that they would soon release a video of Ali Gilani about their demands.
