GUJRANWALA: Four accused, including a girl, were arrested on Saturday for kidnapping people by luring them into friendship on Facebook, police said.
According to the police, Rs.900, 000 cash, two cars, mobile phones and two pistols were recovered from the possession of suspects.
The gang is involved in alluring boys through social networking site Facebook to kidnap them for ransom.
The group is involved in several cases of kidnapping for ransom with the help of a woman accomplice.
The local police claimed that the gang includes a couple, husband and wife, and the son of an Station House Officer (SHO) at a local police station.
According to reports, the female member of the group, Sheeza, entraps boys through Facebook friendship to pave the way for the abduction.
During this friendship, she tries to develop contact on mobile and asks to have a meet up. As soon as the boy gets agree, he is abducted by the group.
The initial probe reveals that boys who wish to have female friends are targeted and then shifted to border city of Sialkot. Later on the relatives of the abducted boy was contacted to get the ransom.
Facebook is considered as the most popular social networking site in Pakistan which has over 10 million registered users out of which 34 percent are female users.
