KARACHI: A strong earthquake of magnitude measuring 7.8 struck the Dalbandin area in Balochistan province and Sindh areas on Tuesday, said the US Geoplogical Survery.
The tremors were felt as far off as the Indian capital city of New Delhi, news agency Reuters reported.
According to intial television reports, the tremors were felt in different parts of Balochistan, as well as Sindh province, including Quetta, Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur,Nowshero Feroz, Khuzdar, Noshki, Chagi, Pasni, Gwadar and many other parts of both provinces.
Many houses have been damaged in Balochistan’s Awaran district because of the earthquake. The affected area Awaran is located between Turbat and Khuzdar. The tremors were felt at 4:29pm.
Reports from Awaran say that at least Thirty five people have been killed, Several injured due to the earthquake.
Rescue teams shifted injured people to the hospital in Awaran.
Reports are coming in about casualties and damages in several parts of Balochistan.
