By-polls: PTI’s Dawar Kundi wins from NA-25, Tank

TANK: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s candidate Dawar Khan has won by-election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s district Tank against Asad Mehmood, son of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Chief, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman.

It should be mentioned here that Maulana Fazl emerged as successful from NA-25 in May 11 general elections; however, the seat today was lost to the PTI’s Dawar.

According to the unofficial results, Dawar Khan Kundi won by 7500 votes, as he acquired 73,755 votes followed by 66,063 votes received by Maulana Asad Mehmood from a seat abandoned by his father.

It is relevant to note here that the by-election here earlier which were booked on August 22, was postponed over security concerns.

Four squads of army and Frontier Corps as well as 2000 police personnel stood guard at all 308 sensitive polling stations in this district.
