ISLAMABAD: An Audit Report into Ministry of Production’s Accounts for 2012-13 has unveiled corruption of millions of rupees during Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led federal government five years tenure.
According to the audit report of ministry of production, buses and rickshaws worth Rs 189.6 million were distributed among the choiced people and institutions without any criteria and legal procedure.
The report revealed that during former government rule, vehicles worth millions of rupees were purchased and distributed by the politicians among various institutes and private organizations without following rules.
The report said that Former federal minister for information and broadcasting, Firdous Aashiq Awan distributed buses worth Rs 2.5 million among the private colleges, institutions and other organizations.
About 200 auto rickshaws worth Rs 33.1 million were distributed by ex-federal minister Nabeel Gabol.
Non governmental organizations (NGOs) also took full advantage and managed to grab double cabin vehicles worth Rs 17 million only in Karachi.
The audit report has created panic among the political ranks. The politicians involved were preparing to clarify their stance while the opponents were flexing muscles to cash the issue to defame their rivals.
