KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Health and Local Bodies, Syed Owais Muzaffar has taken strong exception to poor hygienic conditions and inadequate medical facilities at different government owned healthcare facilities in the province.
He in his on the spot directives to Sindh Secretary for Health, during a surprise visit to Civil Hospital Thatta, said all measures must be adopted for easy and prompt availability of all relevant facilities to the patients.
The minister reiterated the importance of cleanliness at all provincial government healthcare centres and hospitals.
“These facilities are meant to provide healthcare to the masses and not to be themselves a health risk for patients and the visitors,” said the health minister.
Owais Muzzafar said that available resources must be meticulously utilized to facilitate the patients with due care towards their sensitization about relevance of hygienic practices for their own as well as of their children’s well-being.
The provincial minister for health said presence of doctors must be ensured at their respective places of duties with due stock towards their performance and professional obligations in mitigating miseries of resource-less patients visiting government facilities.
He on the occasion also reviewed progress of varied ongoing development projects in Thatta and said these must be completed within stipulated time and without any compromise.
The minister also visited different parts of Thatta and personally inquired people about their problems.
Responding to public complaints about lawlessness and the growing sense of insecurity among them, he ordered District Police Officer, Thatta, to beef-up security arrangements and intensify police patrolling.
He said he would re-visit his constituency in next few days’ time and will again seek public view about the security and that if they may be feeling any improvement in general situation vis a vis cleanliness etc.
Later, the minister visited a water treatment plant at Gharo that is meant to facilitate residents of Gharo and surrounding localities.
