ISLAMABAD: Government will launch National Programme for Skill Enhancement throughout the country to provide employable skills to the youth.
Plan is to expand youth vocational training and employment promotion programmes in all districts and to expand the Youth Development Centers (YDCs) to achieve the ultimate objective of one youth development in each district.
The YDCs will be made centers of information for youth and eventually information technology (IT) centers, official sources told.
There is lack of opportunities for development of entrep reneurial skills among the youth for self-employment, official said, adding support will be provided for educational, sports and recreational activities.
Official said the focus is on increased youth engagement in community development and social networking.
There is need to create Youth Engagement Committees for management and
supervision of activities in the community and also to strengthen training institutes such as TEVTAs, the skill training centers and other private sector skill development activities.
Besides, plan is on cards to explore jobs for youth in Middle East and East Asian countries under an institutional arrangement through Overseas Employment Corporation.
Acquisition of land for Youth Center in Chitral and involvement of youth in healthy recreational activities is also in consideration, he said.
