Fakruddin G Ebrahim’s resignation accepted

ISLAMABAD: The resignation of Chief Election Commissioner, Fakhrudddin G Ebrahim has been accepted, media  reported Thursday.

According to report, the resignation was accepted on August 12. Mr Ebrahim stepped down from the post after harsh criticism from the opposition parties for what they said was his failure to stop rigging in May 11 elections.

The report said the government would write letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan for the appointment of acting Chief Election Commissioner.
