ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid on Wednesday said that the federal cabinet has approved the signing of international protocol for the transfer of prisoners.
Talking to a private television channel, he said that signing of the Council of Europe Convention would facilitate the repatriation of Aafia Siddiqui to Pakistan.
The ratification of the treaty with Washington will enable Islamabad to seek repatriation of Pakistani citizens imprisoned in the US as well as other countries who ratified the Convention.
Replying to a question, he said that the consensus will be evolved among all political parties to seek suggestions for reviving peace and economic activities in Karachi.
He said that different options were under consideration by the government to restore peace in Karachi.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has specially assigned task to Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali for the consultation with all political forces for the restoration of peace in Karachi.
Pervaiz Rashid said that Chaudhry Nisar would consult with Governor Sindh Ishrat-ul-Ibad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and that both would also participate in the upcoming cabinet meeting to discuss the situation in Karachi.
Replying to another question, he said that the central government has backed the provinces to resolve all the issues being faced by them.
