ISLAMABAD: Spokesman for the House of Lords of United Kingdom, Lord Tariq Ahmad has said that peace and democracy in Afghanistan is necessary for the future of democratic Pakistan.
Talking to the VOA, Lord Tariq said that Britain enjoys very cordial relations with Pakistan as the latter is playing very important role in promoting democracy and international politics.
Lord Tariq said that the British government is fully supporting all out efforts of Pakistan in strengthening democracy in the country.
He said Britain wants Pakistan to move forward by solving its internal problems and London wants to help Islamabad in controlling terrorism in the country.
Commenting on the British Foreign Secretary William Hague’s visit to Pakistan, Lord Tariq said that the UK wants to improve its ties with Pakistan and visit of Secretary William was another attempt to promote the comprehensive relations at both sides.
Talking about the smooth transfer of power in a democratic way in Pakistan, Lord Tariq said that such a democratic transfer has taken place for the first time in the history of the country which is a hope for Pakistani nation.
