Power shortfall mounts to 5,000 megawatts across country

ISLAMABAD: The power shortfall has mounted to 5,000 megawatts across the country.

According to the Water and Power Ministry sources, current demand of the electricity is 17,500 megawatts but the production is only 12,500 megawatts.

Earlier yesterday, the power production mounted to 13,500 megawatts but today 1500 megawatts has been produced less than the previous day.

Currently, power demand in twin city is 1,500 megawatts but only 700 megawatts of the electricity is being supplied to the IESCO for Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The twin cities are facing 850 megawatts’ shortfall now, informed the Water and Power Ministry officials
