New spell of monsoon rains to start from July 20: Director PMD

ISLAMABAD: Director Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Dr. Muhammad Hanif Saturday said that another spell of monsoon rain likely to start from July 20 and heavy rains would occur in the country,the weather even more pleasant.

Talking to Pakistan Television, he said that mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country during next 48 hours.

However, rain-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places of North east Punjab, Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas, he added.

Dr. Hanif said that during Ramzan, weather trend is expected with rains and muggy conditions.

He said due to the recent rain spells, weather would continue to remain pleasant in most parts of the coutry.

Replying to a question, he sai flow of water in Mangala Dam was around 40,000-50,000 cusecs, which would increase due to rains in Kashmir valley. The flow in the Tarbela Dam had reached 200,000 cusecs due to melting of glaciers.

He said that rain is expected in Hyderabad and Mirpur Khas divisions of the Sindh province during the next 48 hours.

He said the current rain system had decreased temperature by 2-3 degree salcius in Balochistan.
