LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday declared CNG stations in residential areas illegal, media reported.
The court was hearing a petition against such pumps established in the residential areas.
The LHC also ordered immediate closure of a pump in the Allama Iqbal Town, as it was mentioned in the petition.
The presiding judge during today’s hearing said that under the Lahore Development Authority Act, 1975, and the Local Government Ordinance, 2001 commercial activities could not be carried out in residential areas.
Earlier in Islamabad, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) issued show cause notices to over 1,000 CNG station operators, asking them to justify why they have set up outlets in residential areas.
