CJ takes suo moto notice of taxi drivers killing


ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has taken suo moto notice of the killing of a taxi driver by a Rangers man in Karachi.

The notice was taken on a note by the Supreme Court Registrar and a three member bench comprising of the Chief Justice, Justice Jawwad S, Khawaja and Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed will hear the case on Friday.

Taxi driver Murad Ali was shot by the Rangers man on Tuesday in Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi when he did not stop his vehicle after being signaled to do so.

A local court in Karachi sent the Rangers soldier involved in killing of the taxi driver on physical remand till July 22.

Police produced the accused before the judicial magistrate and sought 10-day remand. However, the judge remanded the accused in police custody till July 22.
