ISLAMABAD: Federal Ministry of Finance on Tuesday barred the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from collecting additional general sales tax (GST) from unregistered petrol stations, media reports.
According to details, the Finance Ministry has issued directions that unregistered petrol stations should get themselves registered otherwise action would be taken against all such stations after a week.
Earlier, the ministry of petroleum has issued instructions to the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) to collect 19 percent GST from unregistered stations. The move would have resulted in further increase in the prices of petrol by Rs1.72 a liter and by Rs1.80 a litre in case of diesel.
Meanwhile, the finance ministry has released Rs10 billion to the ministry of petroleum for purchase of furnace oil for the independent power producers.
