Dr Sattar says his convoy was attacked in own constituency

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar Saturday said that his convoy came under an armed attack in old city area but, luckily, they escaped unhurt.

Addressing a press conference here at MQM Headquarters in Azizabad area, Dr Sattar demanded of the Sindh government to restore business activities in the old city area and arrest the criminal elements operating there.

“Our convoy was attacked today and we were prevented from meeting our voters,” he regretted, asking, who the people would turn to if their leaders would be attacked.

The MQM leader also asked if the old city area has turned into a no-go area, as, he claimed that a group of miscreants come to the area at their will and openly resort to firing with impunity.

He said the business and trade activities have been adversely affected by the criminal acts in the old city area and the traders were demanding an action against them.

Dr Sattar said his party’s Sindh MPAs were insecure and that the brutal killing of Sajid Qureshi along with his son had proved that security was meant only for VVIPs and not for the common man.
