LONDON: Tickets of the final edition of the ICC Champions Trophy for the June 15 match between long-term rivals India and Pakistan to be held in Edgbaston have been sold out , according to International Cricket Council (ICC) officials.
According to the ICC, demand for tickets for the Champions Trophy has been exceptionally high, with tickets selling quickly following the official release of further tickets in a planned second phase of sales, the Dawn reports.
Stating that the ICC has been staggered by the interest shown in the tournament by the high ticket sales, Tournament Director Steve Elworthy said that the allocation of tickets for the India Pakistan match sold out within thirty minutes, adding that the tickets released for other matches, including the final, also sold out quickly.
Elworthy further said that the staggering ticket sales shows the growing excitement and real passion cricket fans have for this tournament, in which they will have the chance to see live the world’s top 50-over cricketers playing in England and Wales.
Additional tickets for all 15 matches, including coveted games such as India v Pakistan, England v Australia and the final went on sale this morning via the official ICC ticket website, the report added.
