ANP committed to fight against the terrorism: Asfandyar

ISLAMABAD: Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfandyar Wali Khan on Tuesday said that ANP is fully committed to fight against the terrorism and extremism in the country.

He said that caretaker government to provide security cover to his party leaders and election contestants in public gatherings.

President ANP, strongly condemned the explosion near his party,s corner meeting in Peshawar, where at least nine dead and dozens injured.

He said that ANP has history to fight against the non- democratic forces and added that continuity of democratic system is only solution to eradicate the menace of terrorism in Pakistan.

He added that election should be held ontime according the constitution and level playing field provide to ANP as well to ensure transparency in coming election.

The ANP President, talking to a private news channel,He said that the political parties could resist the terrorists through political means to continue the democratic process in the country.

Replying to a question, Asfandyar alleged that despite serious threats, the minimum security provided to the ANP leadership and election contestants had been withdrawn.

Asfandyar said that his party had rendered sacrifices for the stability of democracy.

Replying to another question, he said that it was need of the hour that all the political stakeholder should adopt a joint strategy to maintain peace in the country.
