SC issues short order in Badami Bagh sou moto case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme court has adjourned the hearing of sou moto case of Badami Bagh incident on Wednesday.

The court held IG Punjab and CCPO responsible for the incident.

A three-member bench, led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Azmat Saeed, heard the case pertaining to Saturday’s mob attack on Christian neighborhood in Lahore’s Badami Bagh area in which over 100 houses were burnt down. Fortunately, there were no causalities.

Advocate general Punjab Ashtra Ausauf submitted a renewed report in the court today.

CJP acquired the Punjab government regarding the progress during the investigation with the accused. Upon which the advocate general replied that the authorities are looking for the missing witnesses and the complainer.

The court moreover said that as to why the mob were not controlled before the incident?? advocate said that police baton-charged to disperse the protestors. At which, Justice Gulzar said the police played their role as silent spectators.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till March 18.
