ISLAMABAD: The Supreme court has ordered the Election commission to take action against the fake degree holders within two days, reported AAJ news.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heading a three-member bench, was hearing a case regarding fake degrees being held by elected parliamentarians.
The bench ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to ease the process of raising objections over nomination papers and said that according to article 19 it was the peoples’ right to raise objections and to seek information regarding their representatives.
During the hearing, the chief justice ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to initiate action against all fake degree-holding parliamentarians and added that voters should have access to all the data pertaining to the candidates.
Secretary of Election Commission Ishtiaq Ahmed replied that the information of the candidates would be made available on the website. The apex court moreover directed HEC to make verification process fast and easy.
The hearing over the case was adjourned until March 28th (Thursday).
