LAHORE: The responsibility of choosing caretaker chief minister of Punjab has been referred to the Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday.
The third and final meeting of the six-member parliamentary committee ended without a decision on a name for the position.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, committee head Rana Sanaullah said “This is not about a deadlock; this move is a part of the constitution. We all agree that the ECP should resolve the matter.”
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) nominated journalist Najam Sethi, Justice (r) Zahid Hussain, while the PML-N suggested the names of Justice (r) Amir Raza Khan and Khawaja Zaheer, a former bureaucrat.
