PM reaches India, Ajmer Dargah chief un-welcomes the visit

KARACHI: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf arrived in Jaipur to offer prayers at Ajmer Sharif India, as part of an unofficial sojourn.

The visit scheduled to be a day long visit to shrine of Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Gharib Nawaz in Ajmer Sharif and the PM is accompanied by family members and acquaintances.

On the other hand, the shrine’s spiritual head said he will boycott the visit to protest the alleged beheading of an Indian soldier along the LoC recently, while another group of ‘khadims’ (caretakers) said the shrine keepers have no business blocking any devotee beckoned by the Garib Nawaz.

Also on Saturday, Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid is scheduled to host a lunch in Jaipur for Prime Minister Ashraf but no “substantive” discussions are expected to take place.

The prime minister however is not expected to meet his Indian counterpart who recently accused Pakistan of faltering on its part of the bargain with regard to terrorism.
