Najam Sethi appointed as caretaker CM of Punjab


The provincial parliamentary committee finally resolved the deadlock and agreed to appoint Najam Sethi as caretaker chief minister of Punjab, Aaj News reported.

The six-member committee of the Punjab Assembly reached consensus on the last day of consultative sessions.

Former ministers Rana Sanaullah, Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and Iqbal Chunnar represented the ruling Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz in the committee, while the opposition Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and PML-Q were represented by Shaukat Basra, Zulfiqar Gondal and Chaudhry Zaheer.

It is worth mentioning here that Najam Sethi is an award winning Pakistani journalist, editor, and media personality .Sethi has also served as a federal minister in the caretaker set-up led by Malik Meraj Khalid in 1996.
