Karachi: Professor shot dead in incident of target killing

KARACHI: Professor Sibte Jafar Zaidi was shot dead by some ‘unknown’ gunmen near Sindhi Hotel area of Karachi’s Liaquatabad here Monday.

Our correspondent reported that, Professor Zaidi was en route to his home at Ancholi on his bike when he was targeted by four unknown gunmen near the bridge.

He received four bullets and died on the spot. Jafar’s body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

He was the principal of Liaquatabad Government College, also a renowned poet and an author.

In wake of professor’s killing, SIPLA has announced to shut down all the colleges across Sindh on March 19 (tomorrow).

The Shia Ulema council has announced three days of mourning and demanded that the killers be arrested immediately.
