Interior Minister vows arrest of Abbas Town blast perpetrators

KARACHI:  Minister for Interior Affairs A. Rehman Malik on Monday vowed to arrest those involved in Abbas Town incident within next 48 hours.

“I am personally monitoring the investigations and we will arrest the killers in 48 hours,” he said during his encounter with media at Aga Khan Hospital here, after visiting the injured of Abbas Town bomb blast which occurred here on Sunday.

The Interior Minister said that he was proceeding to the Chief Minister House to preside over a meeting along with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to review the progress/ investigations into the above incident.

He said that the Federal Government has extended all out support to Sindh Government to maintain law and order especially in Karachi.

He feared that more incidents of terrorism are possible. He said the terrorists did enjoy support and patronization from certain quarters.

The Interior Minister urged the Punjab Government to take strict action against the banned factions/ organisations to contain the terrorist’s activities in the country.

“Lashkar-e-Jhangvi in full voice claims its involvement in the  recent terrorist incidents of Quetta and Karachi,” he said.

He alleged that Punjab Government and Pakistan  Muslim League (Nawaz) leadership were non-cooperative towards the Federal Government in its efforts to contain terrorism in the country.

On this occasion, A. Rehman Malik thanked the people of Jafaria school of thought for keeping patience and not playing at the hands of anti-state elements.
