Imran holds Punjab govt liable for Badami Bagh

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chief Imran Khan has held the Government of Punjab liable for the incident of Badami Bagh, stating, “the PML-N government’s close connections with terrorist organizations has led to attack on the houses of innocent people belonging to the Christian community.”

Mr Khan was speaking to media persons during his visit to Joseph Colony along with party leaders on Tuesday.

Imran says that the PML-N leadership had done seat adjustments with the outlawed outfits in order to attain power. According to him these actions were fanning terrorism and resulting into catastrophic incidents that were blemishing Pakistan’s image globally and endangering the lives of minorities.

The PTI chief said that despite of having full knowledge of the entire situation, the Punjab government did not took the action on time in order to stop the attackers from burning down the houses which is an enough proof of not only its ineffectiveness but also “deep connections” with banned outfits.

“Police at the site got vacated the houses of victims and then acted as mere spectators instead of barring the attackers from carrying out destruction in the area,” Imran Khan said.

The PTI chief said the political appointments in Punjab police made by the present government were responsible of lawlessness in the province. “The Punjab government has failed the police department just by appointing their blue-eyed people at top positions,” said Imran.

Mr Khan berated the federal and Punjab governments for their complete failure and ineffectiveness in protecting the lives and possessions of minorities in the country. “Had the culprits of Gojra incident been held accountable, the tragic incident of Badami Bagh would not have taken place,” he said. After coming into power, the PTI would ensure the minority rights and provide them with their basic rights at their doorstep.

He said the Supreme Court was doing the job of a government, while the command of the state was no where.

He said elections should be held on time without any delay at any cost. “Timely elections are the only solution to the entire crisis being faced by the country.
