Hajj corruption case: IHC rejects bail plea of Ex-DG Haj

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on friday rejected the bail application of former Director General Haj Rao Shakeel, accused in the Haj corruption case.

A single member bench comprising Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi resumed hearing the bail application of Rao Shakeel.

During the proceeding, Shakeel’s counsel,Sh Ahsan-ud-Din apprised the bench that his client has been detained for last two years and that the prosecution is responsible for the delay in the case.

He argued that the main accused Hamid Saeed Kazmi was also released on bail.

Chaudhry Zulfiqar, counsel for Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) objected to the request, saying that Shakeel had misused his powers in the Haj of 2010.

He said that the case has been lingering on due to delaying tactics used by the accused.

However, Shakeel’s counsel rebutted the arguments of FIA’s counsel and said that delaying tactics are being used by FIA.
