Governor Mehmood dissolves Punjab Assembly

LAHORE: With the signature of governor Makhdoom Syed Ahmed Mahmud the Punjab assembly was dissolved late Wednesday.

Earlier a day, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has sent an advice to Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood for dissolution of Punjab Assembly.

The major opposition party in Punjab had showed many reservations regarding the interim setup in the province but in wake of all the assembly was declared dissolved by the governor.

However, the caretaker Chief minister is yet to be decided.

The former has proposed Justice (Retd) Amir Raza and former federal secretary Khawaja Zaheer for the CM slot. but the decision has not taken due to the rift between PPP and PMLN.

If the deadlock persists after three days of the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly, then the speaker will form a six-member committee to decide a name for the CMship.
