ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) has directed the Airport Immigration department to put name of Former President General (R) Pervez Musharraf on Exit control List, sources quoted as saying.
The Interior Ministry has sent a notification to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration in this regard.
According to the reports, Musharraf is barred to travel from any of the international airport across the country.
Earlier on Friday, Sindh High Court (SHC) also stopped him to travel abroad with permission of the concerned court.
He has decided to take part in general elections 2013 and filed his nomination papers for the National Assembly from three constituencies – NA-250 (Karachi), NA-32 (Chitral) and NA-48 (Islamabad).
A day after his return from self-exile, retired Gen Pervez Musharraf was greeted by asking the Supreme Court to put his name on the exit control list (ECL).
The petitioner requested the court that Musharraf be placed on the ECL, and a treason case registered against him and an action initiated. Aziz also said in his plea such a person should not be allowed to take part in political activities.
A government crackdown on the Lal Masjid in Islamabad was launched in July 2007. It ended in a bloody eight-day siege killing at least 58 Pakistani troops and seminary students.
Gen Musharraf is accused in a number of cases, including the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
