LAHORE: Faisalabad Wolves registered seven-wicket win against Karachi Dolphins after captain Misbahul Haq slammed 85 runs in his team’s victory in the Faysal Bank Super Eight Twenty 20 Cup match here on Thursday at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Wolves start was though not a good one as they lost two of their
wickets at low score yet Misbah and Ali Waqas showed their class and played a meaningful 67-run third-wicket partnership to bring their team close to victory.
Akbarur Rehman then came to front and broke the partnership after taking
Ali Waqas wicket as he was playing at 39. After that Misbah and Imran Khalid established a 73-run fourth-wicket partnership which was good enough to achieve the target easily.
Misbah playing superbly slammed unbeaten 47-balls 85 runs with the help of six fours and five sixes while Imran Khalid collected 16-ball 18 runs.
In another match of the day, Hammad Azam’s bowled Rawalpindi Rams to
20-run win under the Duckworth-Lewis method. Rams, put into bat first, posted 145 run on the board for the loss of five wickets in the reduced 18 overs.
Naved Malik top-scored with 29 runs while captain Sohail Tanveer added 28. Awais Zia (26), Babar Naeem (26) and Umar Waheed were the other notable players who contributed well for their teams. Bilal Khilji picked three wickets for 24 while Fahad Masood and Kashif Siddiq got one wicket each.
It was Hammad Azam whose bowling restricted Stags to 96 runs. Hammad clinched three wickets for 23 runs while captain Sohail Tanveer claimed 2-11 and Umar Amin 2-15. Only Kashif Siddiq (45) and Imran Ullah Aslam (15) were the Stags players who managed to reach double figures.
Sohail Tanveer was named man of the match.
