KARACHI: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has revised various stages of general election’s schedule through a notification issued on Thursday. However, the polling date will remain unchanged as May 11.
According to a notification, the ECP has revised various stages of schedule for the elections under section 11A of the Representation of the People Act on the demand put forth by political parties from Balochistan.
According to the revised schedule the dates for filing of nomination papers would be from March 24 to March 31. The dates for scrutiny of nomination papers would now be from April 01-7. The last date for filing of appeals against rejection/acceptance of the nomination papers has been revised to April 10. The last date for deciding appeals by the tribunals has been re-fixed as April 17.
The candidats could now withadraw their candidature upto April 18 and the revised list of candidates will be published on April 19. The revised schedule shall also apply on reserved seats the notification added.
The offices of the Election Commission as well as the offices of District Returning Offices and Returning Officers will remain open on March 30 -31 and April 6- 7.
