KARACHI: Around two people were killed and several wounded as clashes broke out in the Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area after armed men opened fired on mourners returning from the funeral procession of the 48 deceased lives of Sunday’s blast victims.
Attendees of the funeral procession came under attack when armed men opened fire near Al-Asif square in Sohrab Goth area. Officials said gunmen shot and killed two people and left 13 injured.
A police official asserted some members of a certain sect attending Monday’s funeral set fire to buses in the neighborhood.
Periodic gunfires were reported in the Sohrab Goth and near Abbas Town areas following the incidents.
Media men and four rangers personnel were also reported to receive injuries in the clashes aftermath.
According to some estimates, up to 30 vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and an ambulance were said to have been set on fire.
