ADB sees no reason for Pak-Iran gas pipeline sanctions

ISLAMABD: The Asian Development Bank has said there is no reason to impose sanctions on Pakistan over Pak-Iran gas pipeline.

ADB Country Director, Warner E. Liepach said Pakistan’s caretaker government would not be given any funds as its function is not to look after the economy of the country but to hold elections.

He said that the caretaker set up could hold talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over a loan program, adding that the ADB’s loan was linked to the IMF loan.

He, however, said the upcoming government would receive a fresh loan.
