21 soldiers killed among 23 in Kohistan road accident

PESHAWAR: At least 23 people were killed including 21 soldiers and four injured when a coaster plunged into a deep ravine in Kohistan district on Saturday.

ISPR authorities confirmed the incident. Giving details of the accident, District Police Officer Kohistan said the coaster No W-737 was on its way to Gilgit from Rawalpindi with 27 people on board including 25 soldiers, a civilian driver and a conductor.

According to reports, the driver of the bus lost control as a result it fell into deep ravine on Korakoram Highway near Samarnala. Of the total four injured the condition of two was stated to be critical.

Those persons died in the accident inclide Lt. Colonel Ikram ul Haq, Nadar Khan, Sadbar, Lance Naik Wali, Akhtar, Rehmat, Sardar Amanullah, Sher Khan, Rasul Khan, Abu Tahir, Syed Khan, Jamil, Gul, Ali, Inayat, Rauf, Shahdat Ali, Sardar, Ahmed Ali, Muhammad Umer, Noor Nabi, Aman, and Rahim. The injured are Sikandar, Shakir, Gul Baz and Wali Ahmed.
