LAHORE: The hunger strike of Young Doctors Association continued on the third consecutive day on Wednesday to press for the acceptance of their demands.
Five hunger striking doctors were shifted to emergency of Services Hospital on Wednesday after their sugar level fell down and they became unconscious. Eleven doctors had been shifted to emergency in the same condition on Tuesday.
Hundreds of doctors from different government hospitals on Wednesday reached the venue of hunger strike in front of Services Hospital and expressed solidarity with hunger strikers by staging a sit-in on the road.
Due to sit-in traffic blocked on road for over three hours, for the first time, a large number of lady doctors joined the protest in front of hunger strike camp. Secretary General of Jamat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch and Farid Piracha and Tehrik-e-Insaaf leaders Abdul Aleem Khan and Mahmood ur Rasheed visited the hunger strike camp and assured doctors for their full support.
The leaders of Railway Unions Federation also visited the camp and vowed to jam the wheel of trains if Punjab government tried to misbehave the hunger strikers.
