Violating LoC: Indian bombing martyrs another Pak soldier

ISLAMABAD: India violating the ceasefire on Thursday as Army sources said Indian troops fired another bomb cross-border in the Kashmir region that martyred another soldier, Havildar Mohiuddin.

“Pakistan Army soldier, Havildar Mohyuddin, embraced shahadat (martyrdom) due to unprovoked firing by Indian troops at Hotspring sector in Battal at 2:40pm today,” the military said in a text message to reporters.

The incident was reported just after a statement from Pakistan Foreign minister Hina rabbani Khar asking to maintain peace between the two countries.

In a similar incident on Sunday (Jan 6), a solider was killed when Indian troops crossed the de facto border in the Haji Pir Sector and stormed a military check post.

The Foreign Office lodged a strong protest with India on Monday over an “unprovoked attack” on a Pakistani check post at the Line of Control (LoC).

A ceasefire has been in place since 2003 along the Line of Control (LoC), the heavily militarised border in disputed Kashmir region, but both sides accuse each other of periodically violating the agreement.
