Skardu, Gilgit natural water springs contain therapeutic value: report


Springs of natural warm water in a village of district Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan have therapeutic value, said a report aired by Pakistan television here Monday.

According to the report, the springs lying in the village ‘Chotron” of shigar valley of distict Skardu in Gigit-Baltistan have therapeutic value. The report said by using water of these springs many skin diseases as well as arthritis could be cured. Pertinent to mention that the word ‘Chotron’ is from  Balti language meaning ‘warm water’ and the village is named in this context.
The report further said that due to communication facilities, people come from far and wide to take advantage of these waters.
The department of local bodies and rural development has built seperate sheds for male and female visitors, it added.
Government can earn a huge amount of foreign exchange by promoting tourism in the area, the report pointed out.
