Rehman Malik orders special security measures for CEC

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that instructions had been issued to authorities concerned to provide security to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

Talking to media men, he said that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had informed the interior ministry through a letter about threats to CEC.

The minister said that all the provincial governments had been directed to provide special security to the provincial election commissioners and heads of political parties.

Commenting on Wednesday blast in Karachi, Rehman Malik said that had a bomb planted in a taxi exploded, there would have been massive destruction.

He also held accountable to Sipah-e-Sahaba, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Jaish-e-Muhammad for aggravating law and order situation in Karachi.

Pakistan soon would release twenty-seven Indian fishermen, Interior Minister Rehman Malik further said.
