Chief of the Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran (TMQ), Dr Tahirul Qadr was lately called by Canadian authorities to appear in their court on Feb 5th, for violating the oath he took for asylum in there.
In 2008 Qadri had applied for asylum in Canada, claiming his life is unsafe in the home country. His application was accepted in 2009. The foreign authorities provided him safe haven on the condition that he would never return to the country where he’s insecure.
Making matters worse, Qadri’s counsel, Mendel Green, had refused to represent the TMQ chief in this case. Green had advocated for the cleric to gain an asylum, back in 2009.
