PAT to Participate In General Election After Consultation: Tahir-ul-Qadri

LAHORE: Tahrik Minhaj-ul-Quran Chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri on Tuesday said that Pakistan Awami Tehrik was an independent political party which would participate in general election after consultation within the party.

Talking to media here at Model Town, he said “I and my family will not contest general election, aiming to set an example for politicians”.

He asked the Punjab government to give permission for holding procession of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). He said that he had never used religious congregations for political purpose.

Replying to a question, he said that he had not got Canadian nationality till 2004, because he was a parliamentarian at that time, and he got Canadian citizenship in 2005 as a Scholar”.

Replying to another question, he said that objectives of long march have been achieved which had provided constitutional awareness to the people.

He said the Election Commission had started to implement Islamabad long march declaration and the meeting with the government delegation would be held on January 27.
