Pakistani Youth to discuss “sustainability” at DALMUN 2013

Karachi: After a long journey of struggle, hard work and commitment DALMUN’13 is finally here.  From the 3rd to 6th of February, over one hundred students belonging to different schools of Karachi will be participating at Dawood A level’s Model United Nations conference. DALMUN is a conference by the students for the students.  It will be hosted at the large and magnificent campus of Dawood Public School.

By bringing together students from various schools, DALMUN hopes to instill in the students, who are the future of the world, the proficiency and confidence that will allow them to embark on endeavors that are directed to make this world a better place to live.

At the event that is organized entirely by the student body of Dawood A’Levels Section for Girls, participating students become mock delegates to a Model United Nations and simulate UN committees. These student/delegates, in their respective committees, are expected to engage in debates on topics that concern their committee and to formulate a resolution that provides a solution to the problem at hand. For this, the DALMUN Team vows to give an equal chance to everyone, meaning that it is not reserved for specific students and will be most pleased to receive first time” MUN-ners.”

Team DALMUN has kept in mind the overtly visible and pressing scenario of depleting resources and deteriorating environment in view, which led to ‘Sustainability’ becoming the theme. Being the future of Pakistan, it is our duty to play our part in ensuring the conservation of the resources before they all vanish from the face of the earth.

Along with academic advantages, DALMUN is also focusing on grooming the participants with regards to confidence and motivation and has invited youth trainer ‘Saadi Makhdoom’ at the opening ceremony of DALMUN’13. In addition, GlaxoSmithKline Pakistan will be holding an awareness seminar on Cervical Cancer, to educate students about this disease and its prevention.

As a youth event, Team DALMUN will be channelizing all the energy in the best possible way. For delegates who will be undergoing strenuous hours of long debating sessions, a Concert and an entertaining theatre performance by ‘Firefly Productions’ will be arranged. At the concert, new rising stars Abdullah Qureshi and Taha n Rauhan are coming to DALMUN all the way from Islamabad.

To mark the end of the conference, a Formal Dinner and Masquerade Party has been arranged. We have invited Mr. Hussain Dawood as the chief guest to share his experiences.

All in all, various benefits have been included in the package to ensure a quality time for the participants, which has been organized by the girls of DPS. The host team is enthusiastically looking forward to welcoming you all for this event.
