Deputy PM Elahi directed to rush back home

ISLAMABAD: In view of the situation emanating after the arrest orders of PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, the Deputy PM Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was called back to Pakistan from Umra, reported Aaj News.

Sources said that, DP Pervaiz Elahi was asked to rush back home immediately.

The Supreme court on Tuesday issued an orders to arrest premier Raja Pervaiz Ashraf over alleged corruption in power projects, threatening to exacerbate political turmoil ahead of scheduled elections.

Earlier on Tuesday, the chief justice said general elections, which are due to be held by mid-May, must be held on time. He was talking in a separate case related to the election commission.

“The court will not compromise on this,” Chaudhry said. “The Election Commission should be ready for elections as soon as the federal government or Prime Minister asks for it.”
